Relaxed Christmas time in the Dorfchalets

Skiing, spa & mulled wine

The pre-Christmas period in the village chalets is particularly recommended. Both Kaprun and Zell am See exude a very special charm with their Christmas lighting. There is not much going on in the village or on the ski slopes. The Christmas markets open and set an idyllic mood for the Christmas season. You can watch the snowflakes from the pool in the Tauernspa. Simply enjoy the peace and quiet before the holidays…

At the beginning of December, all ski resorts open and you can make your first turns on the slopes as you please. As there are no vacations yet, the slopes are relatively empty and nothing stands in the way of the ultimate skiing fun.

Then off to the Tauernspa, as admission to the sauna and water world is included once per day & person in your stay in the village chalets. Here you can revitalize your tired bones and recover from the day’s skiing to be fit again for the next adventure.

Advent markets in Zell am See & Kaprun

There are some very beautiful Advent markets in the region that are always worth a visit. Our highlights are the following:

  • Star Advent market at Lake Zell (Elisabethpark):

    • Illuminated stars on the lake, fragrant mulled wine and regional delicacies.

  • Advent market at Kirchbichl in Kaprun:

    • Nice Advent market with handmade products and culinary delicacies.

  • Star Advent market at Kaprun Castle:

    • Traditional Christmas atmosphere with many exhibitors and a varied supporting program.

  • Christmas market at the Sportresort Alpenblick:

    • Small, traditional Christmas market with a love of customs.

Krampus and St. Nicholas

Finally, we come to a very special tradition in the Alps, which is particularly important in Pinzgau. Around St. Nicholas Day, it is Perchten season in Pinzgau (and it lasts until the New Year with the Tresterer).

Our Valli has already joined in and plays the role of a little Krampus at various events. The play is rehearsed for weeks with great attention to detail and then performed at a Krampus event. The Krampus accompany St. Nicholas in fur robes and with dark, wood-carved masks. Most events are therefore held in the week before St. Nicholas Day on 6.12.

We wish you a wonderful Advent season at the Dorfchalets!

A day of skiing like a dream

March is simply the best time to ski … your toes no longer freeze, the slopes allow you to make long turns again and the sun is already strong enough to keep you in your deckchair a little longer.
